Lark and Missy - The Connemara ponies of Cheesecake Farms |
|
Spend a few precious days (or longer!) with us at Cheesecake Farms.
We're a real farm located in Fauquier County - Virginia's gracious hunt country.
Tucked in between Fredericksburg, Culpeper and Warrenton, Virginia, half way between Richmond and Washington, DC - we're easy to find.
Two Connemara ponies live at Cheesecake Farms named Missy and Lark. They're young and playful.
Our elder horse is Frank. He's a Belgium Draft cross and he's an angel. Everyone loves Frank.

Frank - our elder gentleman. |
|
We have gardens to day dream in and gardens you can work in.
There's a lazy stream for meandering and seasonal cooking classes to tease your palate.
Your dogs, cats and horse are welcome. Your kids, too!
Tour the hot spots of Sumerduck, Virginia (Smith's Antiques, Roger's Ford Farm Winery and the Sumerduck Trading Company - our local convenience store).
Visit the Goldvein museum down the road then pan for gold in our stream.
Come to hunt country for the horses, the antique shopping, the civil war battlefields and the wineries. Or just come for the peace and quiet.
Experience the simple elegance of every day farm life. Reconnect and refresh. Feel the earth beneath your feet.

Relax On A Farm!
Love horses? Looking for that perfect get away? Up for something a little different?
The Hay Loft Suite is ready! The first of our nine proposed suites.
As the name says, The Hay Loft Suite is tucked away in our barn adjacent to our actual hay loft. Cozy and private with a separate entrance, it's a fun place to spend a night - or several nights.
The Hay Loft Suite is located on an upper level but the steps were specially built so they'd be easy to climb. Regrettably, it's not handicapped accessible but proposed suites on the lower level will have easier access.
Family and pet friendly. Bring your dog, your cat and your children. Or make it a romantic get away and leave them at home!
|
|
Climb the stairs to the Hay Loft Suite. Your front door opens onto a large deck that's perfect for breakfast in the fresh air or watching the sun go down before you drift off to sleep. |

Food
Breakfast is at your leisure to be enjoyed in the privacy of your room so lounge the day away if you'd like.
Our in room, hearty, Virginia Hunt Country style continental breakfast is delivered picnic style to your room the night before.
Wake up to light seasonal fare like home made granola, muffins, tea breads, buns, juice, fresh fruit, yogurt or whatever else we're whipping up.
Brew your own coffee and tea right in your room whenever you want a cup. Milk, juice and other perishables will be waiting in your refrigerator.
Need to get on the road early? Take your breakfast with you.
Got the afternoon munchies? Don't feel like going out to dinner? Check your refrigerator for the day's selection of treats and snacks that we've placed after your room is made up.
You'll notice a healthy difference in our cuisine. While we're not strictly vegetarian, you'll find much of our home-y cuisine to be delightfully vegetarian.
Whenever possible, we use locally raised, organic ingredients in our hunt country cuisine and much of it from our own gardens in season.
Regrettably, we can not accommodate special diets but you're welcome to bring food suitable to your needs.
Each room has a wet bar, refrigerator and microwave for your convenience. Cooking other than microwaving is not available.
Sorry, there is no meal allowance if you bring your own food.

Animal Companions
Cats, dogs and horses are very welcome at Cheesecake Farms. Guests are responsible for the care and feeding of their animals. You assume all responsibility for your animals. We have feed stores and vets near by.
Horses Traveling with your horse? Take a pasture break at Cheesecake Farms. If you're looking for trails to ride, there's lots of them at the Phelps Wildlife Preserve just down the road.
We offer self-care, field boarding at $35.00 per horse per night up to the maximum permitted. (Geldings and mares, only. Sorry, we do not have stalls or accommodations for stallions.)
Please bring your own feed, hay and water buckets. You are responsible for the care, feeding and safety of your horse.
Need bedding, tools, gadgets, or other gear? There's a farm and feed store just down the road.
An outside hose with cold running, unfiltered well water is available.
Don't worry about removing manure from the fields but we'd love it if you'd pick up after your horse in common areas like the drive way.
All horses must show proof of a negative Coggin's test with reservation. Mail or fax a copy of the current certificate for each horse when making your reservation.
With regret, horses without proof of a negative Coggin's test will not be permitted to stay and you will forfeit your reservation and money. Please avoid disappointment by taking care of this when making your reservation.
The three horses of Cheesecake Farms live in a separate field from where you'll be boarding.
Dogs and Cats Traveling with your dog or cat? In room, self-care boarding is $15.00 per animal per night (up to the maximum permitted in each suite). Kennel boarding is not available.
Dogs and cats have always been a part of our Cheesecake Farms family so we understand the need to keep your family together especially when you're on vacation.
They're warmly welcomed but must be under your supervision at all times. When out of your suite, cats and dogs must be on a leash or in a carrier.
For their safety, cats and dogs left unattended in the suites must be crated or kept in their carrier. The fresh country air makes them frisky and curious about the great outdoors. Our housekeeping staff will not enter your room if animals are not crated.
Need pet food, toys or treats? There are feed, farm and pet stores in our local area.
Mail or fax proof of the current rabies vaccination for each dog or cat when making your reservation.
With regret, dogs and cats without proof of current rabies vaccination will not be permitted to stay and you will forfeit your reservation and money. Please avoid disappointment by taking care of this when making your reservation.
